Wie ich gestern beschrieben haben, scheint Windows Vista nun doch OpenGL zu unterstützen (Windows Vista und OpenGL).
Jetzt stellt sich die Frage: Was ist mit Inventor / ACAD 2008? Laut den Systemanforderungen die hier zu finden sind (Between the Lines: System Requirements for AutoCAD 2008) braucht AutoCAD eine Direct3D fähige Grafikkarte unter Vista. Nur für Windows 2000 und XP ist noch von OpenGL Grafikkarten die Rede.
Wie in der Inventor 2008 Information zu lesen ist, lässt sich OpenGL in Inventor 2008 unter Vista nicht mehr aktivieren. “[...]The default graphics protocol in Inventor 2008 is now DirectX 9. OpenGL is available only on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP2. Go to Tools > Application Options > hardware to switch modes. The addition of DirectX enables operation on a very large range of graphics cards. Microsoft expects that most “modern” cards will work. Some tested cards will automatically switch from one mode to the other. This means that we have found problems in the mode that the card is not allowed to use.[...]”
Aber einen Lichtblick gibt es ja noch: Inventor scheint mit Direct3D genau so performant zu sein, wie unter Windows XP mit OpenGL.
