During the pre-checks portion of the Autodesk Data Management Server 5 (ADMS) installation, you received the following error message:

ASP Check: The Underlying Connection was closed

Solution

This pre-check message normally occurs if the pre-checks program cannot communicate with the Internet Information Services (IIS) server.

Verify that you can open normal web pages:

1. Open a web browser on the computer on which you are trying to install ADMS.
2. Enter http://localhost in the Address bar of the browser.
3. If you receive a message that the page cannot be found, try the same steps, but enter the following into the browser instead: http://<ip address of vault server>.
4. If the IP address works, check the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters\ListenOnlyList
5. Make sure that the ListenOnlyList value does not exist. If it does exist, delete it.

After modifying the registry, follow these steps to have the changes take effect:

1. Open a Windows command line window.
2. Enter net stop http /y
3. Enter net start w3svc
4. Enter IISRESET

In Inventor 2010, Product Information from Help menu > About will not show the level of service pack installed.

To find out the service pack level, go to

• Windows XP: Start menu > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs >  Enable Show updates.
• Windows Vista: Start menu > Control Panel > Programs and features > Click on view installed updates.

Any service pack installed will be displayed under Inventor 2010.

When you open a drawing in AutoCAD® Mechanical, the following message is displayed:

This drawing was last saved outside of AutoCAD Mechanical. ..... Objects added to the drawing will not be affected. Would you like to continue? Yes or No.

You want to know if it possible to suppress this message by default.

Issue

When you right-click a parent Inventor file (IAM, IDW, or IPN), and select Get Latest or Edit (Open) on the shortcut menu, you have noticed that there are no Library files included in the list of files to be retrieved from Vault.

Solution

This behavior is “as designed.” Vault Explorer assumes that all the library files for the various supported client applications are already in the project files Library locations.

When using Vault or Productstream for Inventor files, it is strongly recommended that you use the Open From Vault command in Inventor, which will retrieve all the files required to open the parent or referencing file. Once all the files are local, the active project file in Inventor is used to resolve all files correctly.

When you tried to apply Service Pack 2 to Inventor 2009, you received the following error message, despite having downloaded the correct patch:

This hotfix is only for Autodesk Inventor 2009 Service Pack 1 and can not be applied to other versions of Autodesk Inventor.

Solution

To resolve this issue

1. Uninstall the Autodesk Inventor 2009 SP1 Client Upgrade for Autodesk Vault Server 2010.
   Note: If you do not see this entry in your Windows Add or Remove Programs, be sure click View Installed Updates on Windows Vista or select the Show Updates check box on Windows XP.
2. After the Client Upgrade has been uninstalled, you can download and install the updated Inventor 2009 Service Pack 2 Client Update for Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) 2010.
